Overview

Safety Check for Workplace makes work communities better prepared in a crisis by allowing employers to locate people and provide assistance quickly. It allows you to send notifications to your work community on desktop and mobile to confirm who's safe and who needs help in a crisis.

Only System Admins can enable Safety Check and users need to be added to the Safety Operator team to create Crisis Events.

Safety Check is an automated messaging feature and should not be considered a replacement for crisis response procedures.
Safety Operators

Safety Operators

Safety Operators are the people you assign to create and assist with Crisis Events. Safety Operators have full Safety Check access to create and manage Crisis Events and drills, and add new Safety Operators.

Manage Safety Operators

To add a Safety Operator, if you're a System Admin, follow these steps:

Go to the Admin Panel.

Click Safety Check.

Click Add Safety Operator and find a user to promote to a Safety Operator.

If your are an admin, follow the steps above to add yourself as a Safety Operator to create a Safety Check.
Create a Crisis Event

Crisis Events

Safety check allows you to create two types of Crisis Events:

  • Drill: Live training exercise or practice to test your teams.
  • Real Crisis: Use with serious events in progress

Create a Crisis Event

To create a Crisis Event, follow these steps:

Go to the Admin Panel.

Click Safety Check.

Click Create Crisis Event and select the event type (Drill or Real Crisis).

Fill out the Crisi Event details: Title, Locations, People Assisting (ie. the Safety Operators involved) and Event Information.

Add people to the event: You can quickly import everyone affected by the event, using their work location or Workplace group. You can also import a CSV of email addresses or add people individually. Click on the Add People button to select your option. You can combine different sources when adding people to an event.

You can modify event details later by clicking on the Edit button.
Send Safety Check to users

Send a Safety Check to affected users

To send a Safety Check to users affected by a crisis:

Go to the Admin Panel.

Click Safety Check.

Find an open emergency (ie. with Status equals to In Progress).

Click on Send Safety Check button.

You can select the channels and audiences to send this Safety Check. messages can be sent via Workplace in-product notifications, Chat messages, Emails or All. You can also refine the audience for the message (All people in the list or Only people not yet notified).

Click Send Safety Check button.
Update affected users status

Update affected users status

You can manually update the status of an affected user if you discover they are safe or need assistance or their Safety Check status is not accurate. To do it:

Go to the Admin Panel.

Click Safety Check.

Find an open emergency (ie. with Status equals to In Progress).

Search for an affected user (or filter users by the search bar).

Click on ... and select Update Status button.

Depending on user status you can change to Safe, Needs Assistance or No Response Yet.

Click Done to submit.
End a Crisis Event

End a Crisis Event

When a Crisis Event is resolved you can end it by:

Go to the Admin Panel.

Click Safety Check.

Find an open emergency (ie. with Status equals to In Progress).

Click on ... button and select Close Crisis.

Alternatively, you can click on the crisis event and then click on the End Crisis Event button. Click on Confirm in the next dialog.
Analyze Safety Check reports

Analyze Safety Check reports

To analyze the response from a Crisis Event, follow these steps:

Go to the Admin Panel.

Click Safety Check.

Click on an emergency.

In the top bar you will see an indicator of the number of people who are Safe, Need Assistance or haven't responded yet.

You can also export a CSV file with affected users, their data and responses to the Safety Check message. Click on the Export CSV button to download it.
